"When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross" - Sinclair Lewis
Canada is looking better and better to me every day. The next presidential election is in 2008. I graduate and go to grad school in 2009. If things don't get better by then, maybe I'll go to Canada. You know, for good. Seriously.

What on earth has prompted me to write this? Well...

Detainee Bill

You might have a Diebold voting machiene key and "When All Else Fails, Hack the Election"

War on terrorism leads to more terrorism

War in Iraq costs $11.5 million per hour

National Debt more than $8.5 trillion

Criticizing authority can get you arrested

And for a bit of humor, scroll down to #3

"Those who will give up freedom for security deserve neither." - Benjamin Franklin

Plus, Canada has a damn good health care system.

That's scary as all hell, but I'm not willing to give up on this country. What can we do to help stop it?

I'd go to Europe if it wasn't for that pesky language barrier thing most places. And the fact that I'm not entirely sure I can find a job in my field. Thought I am still going to contrive to visit Denmark sometime, if not to stay indefinately.

-- William Faulkner

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

"A society that will trade a little order for a little freedom will lose both, and deserve neither."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"Restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us."
-- Justice William O. Douglas

"They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety."

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
-- William Pitt (Earl of Chatham), speech in the House of Lords, November 18, 1783
